The playlist drifts in the background while baristas bring warm focus to every pour. I tried the cold brew with a house‑made granola bowl smooth and refreshing, earth-forward and balanced. The staff treated each order with relaxed attentiveness, making even a short visit feel purposeful. Ground Up Coffee & Bites isn’t flashy; it’s thoughtfully steady a place you’d find yourself returning to again and again.

Wonderfully friendly staff. Quick service - though it’s possible that because it was quite early in the morning the rush had not stopped by yet. Good selection of drinks. Try the raspberry croissant.

Had such a great experience at Ground Up! The lavender cold brew seasonal drink was absolutely fabulous. The staff was so friendly and genuinely cared about our experience from drinks to service. You can tell they really value their customers and take pride in what they do. There was also plenty of seating, making it a perfect spot to work, study, or just hang out for a while. Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re looking for a great coffee spot!” ☕️💜

My new DownTown ‘Go-To’ place! So glad to have a legitimate coffee roaster in the Loop! Friendly staff, fantastic space, and legitimate Cortado with beautiful artwork or as they like to call it Gabrolter( (I think I miss spelled, sorry). Love it!

Absolutely love this place! Ground Up Coffee + Bites Downtown is truly the best coffee shop in Chicago. Every cup of coffee is consistently amazing—bold, smooth, and full of flavor. And don’t skip the breakfast sandwich—it’s hands down the best breakfast sandwich in Chicago. Highly recommend!
